Benjamin Grosvenor is here featured at the age of ten, his musical
abilities, apart from his technical expertise, leave you gasping and me
searching for suitable ways of trying to explain how his hands, which can
barely span an octave, cope with pieces recorded here.
Taught by his mother Rebecca, a music teacher, he has absorbed the styles and idioms required to bring a fresh meaning to almost anything he has tackled so far. His next testing-time is the BBC Young Musicians of the Year competition. He has already got through the first 3 rounds and is now through to the last five. This will be held on February 9th and broadcast in April 2004.
